*To determine specificity, we ran the essay in triplicate on extracted DNA from 96 individual mosquitoes from each of the 3 An. stephensi insectary strains and DNA extracted from 48 individual mosquitoes from each species of An. gambiae sensu stricto, An. coluzzii, An. arabiensis, An. funestus, and Ae. aegypti.
